Let me welcome, Mr. Alok Chantia's contribution towards making our society law abiding and just is commendable. He has ensured this by using and promoting the tool of Right to Information (RTI). He has also written articles in leading dailies, books and journals. He has also been awarded for his work by various organisations. He has helped people in more than 60 legal disputes.
His work in empowering people and becoming a successful entrepreneur, makes him a Social Entrepreneur. He is instrumental in empowering the youth from the rural parts by generating employment. He helps the less financially capable individuals to own a cycle rickshaw at manageable weekly payments. His project was acknowledged by the World Bank and he helped more than 1200 people to own their own rickshaw.
Ms. Renu Agarwal is helping the downtrodden women of the society. She formed an NGO, “Samadhan” & a Crisis Intervention Centre, “One Stop”, which shelters up to 50 women. It also operates a 24/7 helpline for the victims. She has represented women related issues at various international forums. She is active in voicing concerns about crimes against women. She has also participated in various national & international debates. She has also received numerous awards from different esteemed organisation.

He is one of the most respected physicians of the country treating patients from many states in India as well as neighbouring country Nepal on a regular basis. •Dr. Kumar had established “RETREAT”, a home for elderly in Patna and more than 300 children get absolutely free education in his BEST Model Public School. •Dr. Ajay Kumar is an internationally acclaimed Diabetologist involved in several international research projects and the recipient of the “M Vishwanathan Oration” by RSSDI (Research Society for Diabetes in India).

Ms Binayak is the founder of ThinkZone, which empowers women in low income communities to provide quality education through a technology-enabled “school in a box” approach. This award winning social start-up employs technology to reduce the time spent by teachers on non-instructional activities, decrease the overhead costs required to run a centre and increase the quality of education delivered while facilitating one to monitor the lessons. ThinkZone has ambitious plans for transforming the pre-primary and primary education landscape in India and impacting millions of children in the process.
Joseph Madiath is the Founder and Chairman of Gram Vikas which is active in the 7 states of India. Gram Vikas primarily works in the area of Water & Sanitation. He has helped more than 70000 families in over 1200 villages to get the sanitation units. Gram Vikas facilitates Government health programs for maternal health care and for immunization through the Pulse Polio campaign. It further contributes to increase the safety of childbirth, traditional birth attendants are trained in improved delivery practices.
Aditya Patnaik is the founder of Antyodaya. He has been active primarily in the upliftment of tribals from Odisha. He is the founder Mahatma Gandhi Eye Hospital in Mayurbhanj. He has organised eye camps where they managed to treat 30000 blind patients. He was instrumental in setting up four colleges in the remote areas of Odisha. He was also felicitated with many prestigious awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions.
Mr. Das works in the remote areas of Odisha against the dowry practices. He provides legal assistance to the victims of this unsocial practice. He has assisted in 64 cases where the victims received a favourable verdict from the legal system. He also helps senior citizens who have been neglected by their very own families or by their relatives.
Dr. Bikash Das is a Doctor of Philosophy and has completed 23 years of practice in the year 2016 as a Lawyer. He was specially invited to attend the International Expert Committee on Early Childhood Development held in The Hague, The Netherlands in the year 2010 by Bernard van Leer Foundation, The Netherlands.
Founded in August 2009 by Srikumar Misra, Milk Mantra is an Indian agricultural dairy products startup based in Odisha, India. It was set up to solve the milk scarcity problem in the state. Milk Mantra produces and distributes milk and other milk-based products and is known for its packaging that increases the shelf life of milk products by up to four days.
Md. Imran Ali, born and brought up in Quazi Sahi, Bhadrak, completed MSW in NISWASS. He started his voluntary service with NSS that bought him “Best NSS University Award” by Utkal University. He has been working in the field of drug de-addiction across the state of Odisha as one of the co-founders of Nasha Mukti Yuva Sankalp, since 2009.
Achyut and Vidya Das opened doors of perception to local community members to concepts of justice, equality, and human rights. Registered formally as Agragamee, they committed themselves to siding with poor communities so that poverty and hunger are eliminated. They planned measures to ensure inclusion, focusing on women and girls, in the school and adult education programs.
Ranjan Panda, the convener of ‘Combat Climate Change Network’, India, is popularly known as Water Man of Odisha and Climate Crusader. He was awarded the first “Green Hero” in December 2010 by NDTV. He was recognized for his contribution towards environment protection by way of renovation of the traditional water harvesting techniques.
Bibhudatta Jena has rescued snakes, crocodiles, leopards, elephants and many other birds and animals. He has not only conducted campaigns on providing water on rooftops for thirsty birds but also has had more than 100 articles related to the environment, published in leading newspapers in Odisha.

In 2017, Miguel was selected for the Acumen India Fellowship. •Rescued more than 200 child labourers in Hafiznagar No. 2 community and trained more than 1,000 law enforcement personnel. Trained more than 6,500 children in child rights, covering more than 10 villages.
LCHR has conducted scores of “Legal Awareness Programmes” among the rural people of Assam and has covered 16 districts in which 52,526 villagers have benefited in the last 6 years. Through PIL, LCHR assisted to restore rights of 10,000 forest dwellers in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. LCHR trained 125 minority women in five villages under the programme, “NAI ROSHNI”, a programme sponsored by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India.
Honoured with the title "Janamitra" from Sanskritik Mahasabha, Asom, 2011. •Aims to build awareness and facilitates concerted action by community members about hygiene, sanitation and healthy lifestyle practices. GNRC representative (counsellors) visit schools on prefixed dates and communicate about the importance of exercise, appropriate nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, preventive and promotive healthcare.
Dr. Shabina Ahmed pioneered a child development centre, Assam Autism Foundation in 2003, for the children with autism who could not go to school. She is a child specialist with 34 years of experience, but it is noteworthy to mention that she devoted almost 20 years of her career to social service, starting way back in the year 1996.
Dipankar Dutta, as a young entrepreneur and teacher, started the first CEC centre in the year 1994 to meet the growing need of computer education in Northeast India. What began with just two computers, turned into one of the premier institutes with 175 centres spread across the region, having molded more than 5 Lakh students with 2200 persons working under CEC-Parivar.
The National Youth Welfare Association (India) is a non-governmental, non–profit, non-political, non-religious and development oriented voluntary organization established in the year 2003. It was set up in Kamrup district of Assam and formally registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta is the man behind Aaswas, an initiative where children from families, where the bread earner has been a victim of violence, either from security services or insurgent groups, are given monetary support to continue their education.
Dr. Sunita Changkakati aims to facilitate the development of women and youth living in the disadvantaged situation by empowering them to become the modern drivers in the country’s transformation to a global behemoth. She is presently contributing meaningfully as a social worker, an author, a researcher, a woman and a citizen to this historical tryst with greatness.
Sagar through LCHR aims to undertake and promote various legal literacy and capacity building programs to create legal awareness among people and promote the interests of the weaker sections of the society on their affairs particularly women, children, and other vulnerable sections in order to protect their inalienable rights.

MARG was founded as the founders believe that, a good way to ensure justice is to legally empower people to demand it. They empower people to understand their rights, secure their enforcement and pursue remedies when these rights are violated. MARG works for the legal empowerment of the vulnerable and the marginalized, women, children, persons with disabilities, dalits, the poor, etc. They have made many manuals and handbooks to help people understand their rights. They have more than 1,000 Community Justice Workers working on domestic violence, rights of Scheduled Castes, etc. in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand& Chhattisgarh.
Society for the promotion of women and child welfare has rehabilitated more than 2,000 infants by way of Adoption, to needy couples or repatriation to the family. Kishori Shakti Yojana (KSY) is being implemented in 422 child development blocks of the state. They are also into rural development Village Rajolaka in Palwal District of Haryana is being taken care by SPOWAC. There are 115 families staying in that village.
In keeping with its philosophy of ‘Real Work Real Change’, Smile Foundation an NGO to support the underserved has taken its intervention into the interiors of India, reaching the unreached in the remotest of rural areas and urban slums with our services. They are working on 250 projects across 25 states and on 950+ locations. They were successful to impact the lives of over 1 million children and families.
STAIRS is currently the largest organization that ensures Youth development through sports. It has already touched and changed over 2000000 lives through STAIRS' interventions. With focus on achieving Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) through sports, over 300,000 children play – without having to spend a penny – 'every day' at 400 STAIRS Training Centers in over 4,000 villages across 7 states in India. It has been felicitated with the RashtriyaKhelProtsahanPuruskar 2016.
